The Case for Safety is designed to make employees more aware of the importance of safety and encourage them to take safety more seriously. Many accidents on the job could be avoided if people just thought about the impact of their actions on their own safety as well as on the safety of others.
This program takes an entertaining approach to safety training in which the ghost of a former co-worker (Jake) returns to “haunt” a long-time employee (Harry) who has become extremely lax about safety. Jake shows Harry that the future has a fatal accident in store for him unless he becomes more safety conscious. During the course of the video, Harry learns the error of his ways and finally comes around to seeing just how important safety really is.
If you think this sounds a little like Dickens’s “Christmas Carol,” you’re right. The Case for Safety does use this theme to make its point.

Follow safety rules and procedures. Keep everyone’s safety in mind. Take action against hazards. Think “safety” before you act.
