Learn the best ways to keep themselves and their co-workers safe on the job!
Office safety is a subject that many office employees may not take seriously. After all, they don’t expect to suffer injury filing paperwork, drawing graphs, or calculating figures. But ignoring the issue of office safety doesn’t make it go away. In fact, this “it can’t happen here” attitude can actually increase the chances that employees will have an accident on the job.
That’s why it's so important for office employees to view Safety in the Office and learn about office safety. Not only will the information help save employees unnecessary pain, it can save the entire company money in insurance and workers' compensation costs.
Viewers will meet four characters—careless Kim, reckless Richard, distracted Dinah, and heedless Harry—whose attitudes lead to risky behavior and, ultimately, to injury. One by one, each character goes about his or her business, showing viewers what not to do in an office environment:
Kim illustrates how to create slipping, tripping, and falling hazards.
Richard demonstrates how to obtain a back injury.
Dinah shows how to get a cut, abrasion, or puncture wound.
Harry does his best to cause electrical shock and fire.
After seeing each one of these examples of poor office safety practices, viewers will learn the best ways to keep themselves and their co-workers safe on the job. They learn twelve tips for reducing risk in their everyday activities. They learn the six steps to safe lifting. And they learn that even though they don’t have to come to work in full protective gear, they should protect themselves by adopting the four facets of a safety-conscious attitude.
